Defensive end Blake Keller, head coach George O’Leary revealed Monday, left the team during the bye week to tend to what was described as “personal issues. O’Leary and his staff were “surprised at the decision, saying that he “had no idea anything was going on, none of the coaches did either.”
Keller, with his parents in tow, informed O’Leary of his decision last Wednesday, saying he had lost his love for the game. “My own personal opinion is that there are other reasons going on and I think he needs to resolve those issues,” the coach said.
As a true freshman, Keller leads the Knights in sacks with three and is second with four tackles for loss.
