Turner Takes Control At FIU

MIAMI (AP) — Predictably, the first thing Jake Medlock did when he heard that FIU had hired a new football coach was search for his online resume.

And in that moment, the Panthers’ quarterback decided he should buy into whatever Ron Turner would be selling.

As soon as Medlock saw Turner had spent some time in the NFL as Peyton Manning’s position coach at Indianapolis, he knew that the Panthers’ new boss would be both a challenge and a resource for himself and the rest of the FIU signal-callers. Already, Medlock says he knows he’s gotten better and thinks the FIU offense could be a surprise in the Turner era.

The FIU job is Turner’s first as a collegiate head coach since his tenure at Illinois ended nearly a decade ago.
