Fielder will wear #84 for his new ball club and according to Ron Washington, will bat third, presumably in front of Adrian Beltre.
Prince Fielder has hit cleanup for most of his career, and he hasn’t exactly slouched in this slot as he has hit .296 with 91 HR’s, 330 RBI’s, and a .908 OPS in the fourth spot over the last three years. The change might mean less opportunities to drive in runs for Prince but should lead to more at-bats for him overall.
According to RotoChamp, this is the projected starting lineup for the 2014 Texas Rangers:
1. Elvis Andrus (SS)
2. Alex Rios (OF)
3. Prince Fielder (1B)
4. Adrian Beltre (3B)
5. Mitch Moreland (DH)
6. Craig Gentry (OF)
7. Geovany Soto(C)
8. Jurickson Profar (2B)
9. Leonys Martin (OF)
