The Chicago Cubs could benefit by sticking their nose in the David Price trade rumors and discussions, a report from Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal suggests. Rosenthal cites the fact that the Cubs have hired Prices’ college hitting coach, Derek Johnson.
At the time of the hire, Price wasn’t available, so they never considered hiring Johnson as a precursor to eventually trading for Price. But now he is available, so it can’t hurt to pursue him. Regardless, he’ll remain a Ray until the July 31st deadline, which is only ten days away.
At the All-Star game, Price did say that Chicago “would be the coolest city to win a championship in right now.” And yes, he meant the Cubs.
