The Cleveland Cavaliers look ready to trade No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love, according to Bob Finnan of The Morning Journal and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.
According to Finnan, when LeBron James announced he’ll be returning to Cleveland, the Cavaliers have been hoping to get Love from the Timberwolves because James wants to play with Love. Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting this as well. And if trading their No. 1 pick away, that’s what the Cavaliers will do.
If the deal was to happen, it could include a first-round pick, 2013 No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett, and Wiggins, Finnan says.
Andrew Wiggins would be the 2nd player since merger to be drafted No. 1 overall and be traded before playing a game (Chris Webber).
