Aaron Hernandez was using the drug angel dust, had become paranoid and was carrying a gun with him everywhere, according to a new story about the former Florida Gators and New England Patriots player.
A story in the current issue of Rolling Stone magazine, headlined “Gangster in the Huddle,” quotes friends and family close to Hernandez. It also says Hernandez’s drug use and behavior caused him to miss preseason workouts with the Patriots, prompting coach Bill Belichick to say the player was “one misstep from being cut” from the NFL team.
Writers Paul Solotaroff and Ron Borges get into the details of how Hernandez came to be charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, and they go back to the player’s days at the University of Florida — and it’s not a pretty picture.
As has been reported before, Rolling Stone says that Hernandez failed multiple drug tests with the Gators but faced little if any punishment from then-coach Urban Meyer.
