The New York Jets go to training camp at SUNY Cortland’s campus in New York. This year won’t be different except for the fact that Michael Vick is with the team and some students (?) don’t like that. They started a petition (via the New York Daily News) to get him banned.
“If we welcome Vick onto our campus, we are complicit in his crimes,” the petition says. “We are sending the message that, for money and publicity, we will turn a blind eye to the horrors of dogfighting.”
The petition was addressed to Erik Bitterbaum, SUNY president. (Warning: Contains graphic image of pitbull)
It almost has 3,000 signatures, which is the petition’s goal. While that’s not enough to get to the White House, that’s an alarming number for a local petition.
He did his time. He lost a fortune while in jail. There’s got to be people who disagree with this petition.
