Orlando City Soccer’s 2-0 win Sunday night over the Seattle Sounders Reserves got off to a quick start with a goal from Orlando’s own Kevin Molino within the first 36 seconds of play. Molino’s goal has been deemed the quickest goal in the team’s history.
Later in the first half is when Orlando’s second goal came from the Orlando Sanford Airport’s Man of the Match Rob Valentino. In the 30th minute of play Valentino scored his 5th goal of the season off a corner kick from Anthony Pulis. It would have been Valentino’s 6th goal of the season Sunday night but during Orlando’s Wednesday night game against VSI Tampa FC his goal was later revealed to have been aided into the net by Dennis Chin and the goal was given to Chin.
The publicity over the past week from trying to gain support to build a new soccer stadium and to have MLS come to Orlando brought out some new fans to the Citrus Bowl. There was a record-setting attendance of 10,697 screaming fans that showed up to watch their home team play.
Coach Adrian Heath said that there is no added pressure on the team when it comes to bringing MLS to Orlando and that it’s something that he and the team can’t affect and that they leave it up to the front office.
“I have every confidence they will bring what we are all after, the MLS in 2015, I have every confidence in that.”
Heath went on to say that his job is to make sure that the team plays up to the level that the club deserves.
Orlando’s next game is away against the Richmond Kickers at 7pm on Wednesday night in a potential battle to decide who takes home the 2013 USL PRO Regular Season Championship.
