ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Brooklyn Nets are close to making Lionel Hollins coach. The deal is said to be a multiyear agreement worth just over $4 million.

Hollins has led the Memphis Grizzlies to three consecutive playoff appearances. In his last season with the team, he led them to 55 wins and made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. But team management decided not to renew his contract because of some philosophical differences between them and Hollins.

He will replace Jason Kidd, who just left this week to coach the Milwaukee Bucks. ESPN says they wanted to act quickly in wake of the Kidd saga and so they zeroed in on Hollins immediately.
