Mike D’Antoni Steps Down As Lakers Coach

Mike D’Antoni is calling it a career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers announced Wednesday night that D’Antoni is stepping down as the Lakers’ head coach. D’Antoni went 67-87 as the fourth Lakers head coach in less than three years. He replaced Mike Brown, who lasted just 71 games after replacing Phil Jackson.

D’Antoni has been discussing his future with the team since the season ended. He wanted the Lakers to pick up his option so he can coach without speculation on what will happen next regarding his job status.
