Moore, who hasn’t pitched since July 28 because of a sore left elbow, is scheduled to throw a bullpen today then pitch Thursday in a minor-league game. Maddon said they hadn’t decided for which minor-league team.
Moore threw 49 pitches Saturday in a simulated game. How he felt Sunday would determine the next step of his comeback.
Moore said Sunday he felt the normal soreness in the normal areas associated with pitching in a game, so that was a good sign. He said he was going to state his case on returning to the rotation this week but said he would accept whatever course of action the Rays wanted him to take.
“Whatever gets me back in the rotation,” he said. “That’s the ultimate goal.”
