Marlins Hoping To Bolster Roster At Deadline

The Miami Marlins are now 37-38, just 2.5 games back from first place in the NL East. This is due to great starts from Giancarlo Stanton, Henderson Alvarez, and Steve Cishek in the absence of Jose Fernandez. You could say they’re in a much better spot than speculated.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio, Marlins Vice President and General Manager Dan Jennings told Jim Duquette that “there will be money” available to bolster the roster by the trade deadline at the end of July.

On top of this, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Marlins have been on the more aggressive side in terms of teams scouting other team’s systems. He says they’re looking for pitching reinforcement.
