Mariners’ Franklin To Play OF Today

Nick Franklin lost his second base job when the team signed Robinson Cano and then failed to beat Brad Miller for shortstop in spring training. Followed by a demotion to Triple-A, he crushed Pacific Coast League pitching to earn a quick call-up. That brings us to today, where he will be starting in the outfield.

It’s the first time in his career, be it Triple-A or major leagues, that he will be starting at another position other than shortstop or second base.
