For the first time in 21 years, Charlotte Hornets owner Micahel Jordan or Tiger Woods was not named America’s favorite athlete, according to a Harris poll. Cavaliers forward LeBron James now has that honor to his name.
The poll was taken weeks prior to James announcing his return to Cleveland. Jordan fell to No. 2, even though he hasn’t stepped foot on the court as a player since the 2002-03 season.
Derek Jeter placed third, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning finished in fourth. Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and NASCAR’s Dale Ernheart Jr. tied for fifth.
