The Toronto Maple Leafs and Cody Franson were far off in their contract negotiations. Now they are still far off in their arbitration submissions–about $ 2.2 million. The Maple Leafs submitted a $2million dollar proposal to Franson’s $4.2 million meaning that it’s all in the hands of the judge. Now the judge could award on either side, or the judge can split the number down the middle but only for one year. The Maple Leafs are currently $11 million under the cap and could afford to pay Franson no matter what, if they choose to pay him.
