Knicks Fire Mike Woodson, Coaching Staff

Mike Woodson

Ian Begley of ESPN reports that the Knicks have fired head coach Mike Woodson.

Woodson had coached the Knicks for the past two seasons after taking over on an interim basis in 2011 following Mike D’Antoni’s resignation. He guided the Knicks to a 54-win regular season and a division title in 2012-13.

The team went 37-45 this season following a 54-28 season in 2012-13 under Woodson.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson spoke to Woodson on the phone.

“I’m doing fine. I’m in my office packing as we speak. I’m not really entertaining anything with the media right now. I’m just trying to clear my head. That’s what I’m doing”, Woodson said. “I’m fine. I have been doing this a long time. I’m good, really good. It’s time to move on.”
