Josh Brent was released from jail Sunday but he’s not totally free yet. He still has a sentence to serve.
The former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle was convicted in January of intoxication manslaughter in a car crash that killed teammate and friend Jerry Brown Jr. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years’ probation. But he still has to serve six weeks at an in-patient treatment facility, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Cowboys said they’d welcome him back although he announced his retirement before the sentencing. He would likely face a suspension after going up against the league’s personal conduct policy if he tried to return.
