The Rays dropped the last game in their three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 Wednesday afternoon. It wasn’t much of a showing for the streaking Rays and it was a bit of a shock from ace David Price. But Price said after the game that he expects to stay on the roster.
“Absolutely,” he said according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Joe Maddon thinks the same, saying that no one has met their high price the team has set for the Cy Young Award winner.
“It takes two to dance, boys,” Maddon said. “It takes a partner, and it takes a partner with some gumption and (who) wants to do something. If you can’t find that partner, it isn’t going to happen. So I don’t know if there’s a whole lot of folks out there like that these days.”
Ultimately the decision is up to executive vice president Andrew Friedman. The team is expected to stretch it all the way to the 4 p.m. deadline this afternoon.
