Joe Maddon Predicted DeJesus Homer

During Andy Freed’s pre-game interview Saturday with Rays manager Joe Maddon he brought up David DeJesus. The conversation began with a discussion about DeJesus comfort level with the Rays after breaking the ice by delivering the winning hit versus Joe Nathan and the Texas Rangers earlier in the week and then Friday’s game winner.  Joe Maddon spoke on that and then finished the thought with a prediction that came true in the first inning of Sunday’s game.

“He’s very comfortable here I think already.  Of course our guys are going to embrace him as he walks in – he’s very easy to like, he’s a great guy.” But you’re right the game tie-er the other night and the game winner tonight (Friday)  Just good at bats. He’s hitting the ball well. He hits the ball hard, I mean, he’s got a home run in him very soon also – heads up – it’s going to be over the wall – he’s just missing some pitches. ”

Today David DeJesus homered off Scott Feldman in the first inning. It was his first home run since June 13th against Mat Latos of the Cincinnati Reds.

I am a fan of all sports but am most passionate about baseball. From the fanatical to analytical, nothing about the game escapes me. Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio I'm very familiar with the heartache and pain that sports can bring and hope that I bring some understanding of the other side to my coverage. I will focus mostly on baseball but also cover the Tampa Bay Lightning, one of the most electric franchises in all of sports. Always willing to converse about any sport and have only one rule and that is be respectful at all times.
