Orlando is set to host the two most anticipated set of bowl games in Citrus Bowl history beginning Thursday. The excitement has been largely built off of the arrival of Notre Dame and their matchup with in-state power Florida State.
The schools have not met since 2003, with the Seminoles controlling the all-time series between 4-2. Based on the history of both programs, the Champs Sports Bowl is a sellout for the first time in its’ history.
To preview the Notre Dame side of this game, we enlisted the help of South Bend Tribune beat writer Eric Hansen. You can check out more of his work here.
In addition, we talked to several members of the Fighting Irish roster following their first practice in Orlando Monday. The squad boasts nine scholarship players from Florida, including sophomore offensive lineman Louis Nix III, from Jacksonville.
One guy who has a tough task ahead against FSU is running back Cierre Wood. Wood became the 10th Irish player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, but must go against an elite Seminoles run defense.
