Insider: UCF clinches C-USA East Division

The UCF Knights coasted past the UAB Blazers 49-24 and clinched the Conference-USA East Division this past Saturday at Brighthouse Stadium.

The Knight’s offense was strong against the Blazers. Senior Quincy McDuffie rushed for three touchdowns of the four rushing touchdowns and average 13.2 yards a carry. Quarterback Blake Bortles completed 17 of 23 passes for 214 yards and threw two touchdowns to J.J. Worton.  On the other hand, head coach George O’Leary wasn’t pleased with the defense as they allowed 599 offensive yards.

The Knights have a week to prepare for the C-USA Championship against Tulsa next Saturday at noon, which will be televised by ESPN 2.

Game Notes:

UCF clinched the C-USA East Division for the fourth time in eight seasons.

The Knights will travel to Tulsa for the C-USA Championship game on Saturday Dec. 1st.

UCF did not give up any points in the first quarter for the sixth time this season.

UCF beat UAB 35-13 when they first met in 1996 in Birmingham. UCF leads with an 8-2 series record.

UAB’s only victory in Orlando was back in 2008 during the regular season finale.

Attendance was 28,602.
