Former Gator Hits First Big League Home Run

Mets_Matt_den_Dekker_2013Former Florida Gator center fielder Matt den Dekker hit his first major league home run on Sunday night against the Washington Nationals.

Den Dekker’s solo homer gave the New York Mets a three run lead in the second inning and he finished 2-for-3 on the night. He was making just his second career start since being called up on Tuesday. Matt batted .296/.366/.486 at the Triple-A level this season and should continue to see regular playing time in center field with Juan Lagares.
