Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux didn’t let himself get too hyped about the possibility of going to Sochi on account of Steven Stamkos.
When it was announced that Martin St. Louis will replace Stamkos, Giroux said he didn’t want to be disappointed again so he just pretended like he wasn’t in the running.
He was one of the more significant forwards left off the roster – including Joe Thornton, Eric Staal and James Neal. He told CSN Philly it was tough hearing the news.
“I’m disappointed but not upset or mad. It’s tough, tough today,” he explained. “In my mind I wanted to make the team. Like I said, it is disappointing.”
