After the Detroit Tigers traded Doug Fister to the Washington Nationals, everybody wondered where the money that the Tigers freed up was going to go. We now know that the Tigers are close to signing closer Joe Nathan.

Nathan, 39, has been in the league for 12 seasons collecting 343 saves. He played seven excellent season for the Minnesota Twins before playing for the Texas Rangers. Nathan saved 37 games in 2012 and 43 saves in 2013. He is a huge risk for the Detroit Tigers but if he stays healthy, he would certainly bolster the Tigers bullpen.
