Desmond Jennings To DL With Broken Finger

The Tampa Bay Rays have placed Desmond Jennings on the 15-day disabled list with a fracture in his left middle finger. With both Brandon Guyer and Rich Thompson on the disabled list themselves the Rays will look to Triple-A Durham Bulls outfielder Jason Bourgeois.

Bourgeois is 31 years old, bats right handed, and has played parts of 5 seasons in the major leagues and has a career batting average of .261. His best season was back in 2011 with the Houston Astros playing in 93 games and hitting .292 while stealing 31 bases.

Currently with the Bulls he is hitting .291 (95 for 236) and has 21 stolen bases in 26 attempts. To make room on the 40 man roster it is anticipated that the Rays will move Brandon Guyer from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

More than likely Sam Fuld will receive most of the time in center field while Jennings is out.

I am a fan of all sports but am most passionate about baseball. From the fanatical to analytical, nothing about the game escapes me. Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio I'm very familiar with the heartache and pain that sports can bring and hope that I bring some understanding of the other side to my coverage. I will focus mostly on baseball but also cover the Tampa Bay Lightning, one of the most electric franchises in all of sports. Always willing to converse about any sport and have only one rule and that is be respectful at all times.
