Johnny Manziel is offically a Cleveland Brown but that doesn’t mean he officially has a starting role. Browns players may be happy and excited for Johnny Football to wear their colors, but they’re already taking sides.
According to Pro Football Talk, several players have said they expect Manziel to add energy and competition, but they are not ruling out Brian Hoyer to keep the starting quarterback job.
Center Alex Mack told Pat McManamon of ESPN.com he’s happy with Manziel.
“I think good old Johnny Football is going to be a good addition to Cleveland. Don’t know who the starter is going to be, though.”
Linebacker Jabaal Sheard said that Hoyer won’t give up easy.
“Hoyer’s going to come out fighting,” while others shrugged about the level of attention coming their way.”
It’s safe to say that no matter what, Manziel will have plenty of guidance to learn how to handle things with the attention he’s getting. That is key to his success.
