BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Rob Chudzinski says he’s “shocked and disappointed” at being fired by the Browns after just one season as coach.
Chudzinski was dismissed on Sunday night, hours after the Browns finished a 4-12 season with a 20-7 loss at Pittsburgh. The Browns dropped their final seven games under Chudzinski, who was on the job for less than one year.
In a statement released by the team, Chudzinski, a lifelong Browns fan, said “I am a Cleveland Brown to the core, and always will be.”
Chudzinski’s firing is the fourth in six years by the Browns, who have lost at least 10 games in six straight seasons.
The Browns seemed to be making progress under Chudzinski. They were 4-5 going into their bye, but collapsed in the second half of the season, prompting owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner to make the coaching change.
