It’s official. New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has officially opted out of his contract and will test the free agent market in July, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne.
Knicks management hoped he would opt for his final year of his contract. President Phil Jackson has reportedly expressed this to Anthony several times before the regular season ended.
One place Anthony is considering is Chicago. He has reportedly asked one high-profile player in the Windy City what it’s like to be famous there.
According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau has reached out to Carmelo inquiring about his interest.
