Blue Jackets Trade Blake Parlett For Carter Camper

Rocky River, Ohio native played four seasons at Miami University from 2007-11 before signing with Boston as a free agent

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired forward Carter Camper from the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Blake Parlett, club General Manage r Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Camper, 25, has been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.

A native of Rocky River, Ohio, Camper has appeared in 171 career AHL games with the Providence Bruins, tallying 128 points on 37 goals and 128 assists. He has registered 8-23-31 in 41 games this season, ranking third on the team in scoring. The 5-9, 173-pound center has also skated in three career NHL games with Boston, recording 1-0-1 and 14 faceoff wins.

Prior to turning pro, Camper spent four seasons with the Miami University RedHawks (CCHA) from 2007-11. He registered 69-114-183 in 158 career NCAA games and was named a CCHA First-Team All-Star in 2008-09 and 2010-11.

Parlett, 24, has recorded 4-14-18 and 22 penalty minutes in 37 games played with the Falcons this season. He has tallied 18-58-76 and 170 PIM in 192 career AHL games with Springfield and Connecticut. Columbus acquired the 6-1, 205-pound defenseman on April 3, 2013 as part of a multiplayer trade with the New York Rangers.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday when they visit the San Jose Sharks. Game time is set for 10:30 p.m. ET with live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio beginning with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 10 p.m.
