BJ Raji Close To 1-Year Deal With Packers

The Green Bay Packers and B.J. Raji are close to completing a one-year deal that will keep the defensive tackle off the free-agent market, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Thursday morning.

Raji’s goal is to play better and prove himself this season, then try to hit the free-agent market next season. He reportedly turned down an $8 million per year offer last season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network says Raji is weighing his options. He wants to return to Green Bay and he enjoyed his time there.

Rapoport says if Raji stays with the Packers, he’ll return to nose tackle from defensive end, and that’s what he wants. Raji hoped for a long-term deal and he may get one elsewhere, Rapoport adds.
