The Big Ten added the University of Maryland and Rutgers University to the conference this season but some things never change. The teams favored to be on top when 2014 football season ends are the usual suspects.

Yes that means old friend Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes are still the clear favorites to win the Big Ten title in a preseason poll of Big Ten writers that hit the wires on Friday.

OhioState was the choice over runner-up MichiganState in the newly aligned Big Ten East, with James Franklin’s PennState team picked to finish fourth in the East.

Wisconsin is the choice to win the Big Ten West, ahead of runner-up Iowa.

Twenty-nine writers participated in the poll conducted by and the voters were asked to predict the order of finish in each division.

In addition, writers were asked to pick the winner of the Big Ten championship game. Of the 29 votes, OhioState received 19, Michigan State 9 and Nebraska 1.
