At least four NFL coaches will be gone after Sunday

The Lions are likely to fire Jim Schwartz come Black Monday.

Sunday head into the final week of the 2013 NFL regular season and at least four coaches will not be asked back and likely will be fired on the day coaches call Black Monday.  By the way there is plenty of buzz that the Bucs head coach Greg Schiano could be interested in going back to college, perhaps to Penn State if there is an opening. So keep it tuned here

Meanwhile it is very likely that Jim Schwartz who had a very talented Detroit Lions in place to win the NFC North only to not make the playoffs will be asked to leave come Monday. Fair or not the Atlanta Falcons are not likely to bring Mike Smith back. The Panthers has pasted the Falcons in the NFC South and they aren’t going away so look for Atlanta to send  Smith on his way.

The Tennessee Titans will likely part ways with Mike Munchak who never developed the offense that he was brought there to create. Again, this may not be a fair firing but all indications are that he won’t be back. It would take an expensive buyout to keep the cheap Titans from parting ways with  Munchak.

The Vikings are in serious debate about if they will bring Leslie Frazier back for another season in Minnesota. They had plenty of injuries and that might buy him one more season in Minnesota.

We know that Gary Kubiak is already gone in Houston and I would like to report a former Bucs coach Lovey Smith is the leading candidate for that opening.

Now comes the these guys could be gone but you never know because of ownership.

We will start in Dallas where by all rights Jason Garrett should be gone but then where is owner Jerry Jones going to find another guy that will allow him so much say in what goes on during a game. The short answer is that Garret has been perfect for him but bad for the Cowboys. So we will find out if Jones is ready to cut the cord and find another coach for the Cowboys.

Now we head to Washington where head coach Mike  Shanahan will not be fired by owner Dan Snyder. But it is possible that he will ask out of the final year of his deal. The key point here is Shanahan perceived problem with Snyder’s friendship with star quarterback Robert Griffin, III.

Make no mistake about this Snyder can be blamed for many things in the past but he has been a good boy and allowed Shanahan to run the football operations his way. Including by passing general manager Bruce Allen but for some reason and then there is that the owner likes the quarterback issue that the head coach can’t seem to handle – but if he leaves it will because he wants out – do not look for Snyder to fire him.

That takes us to Miami earlier this season where it looked like head coach Joe Philbin might not make to this week. Now with help the Dolphins could make the playoffs and owner Stephen Ross might be a little more understanding that Philbin held the team together and put them in a place that could send them to the post season. But hey this is NFL wich of course stands for NOT FOR LONG so we will see come Monday who is still around.
