The A’s announced that they have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with an option on 2015 with infielder Nick Punto.
Nick Punto will earn $2.75MM in 2014 and the vesting option for 2015 is worth the same amount, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter). The vesting option is based on days spent on the disabled list and comes with a $250K buyout if it’s not exercised.
Punto played all of the 2013 season with the Dodgers after being involved in the mega deal between Boston and Los Angeles last season and hit .255 in 116 games for the NL West Champs. However, Punto is more recognized for his glove work and his ability to play around the diamond as he has over 300 career games played as a shortstop, second basemen, and third basemen.
