49ers Bid To Host College Football Championship At New Stadium

49ers_logo_2012The San Francisco 49ers, fresh off landing the Super Bowl at the team’s new South Bay stadium, are now going after the country’s second-biggest sports spectacle: the college football national championship.

The team is submitting a bid this week for Levi’s Stadium to host the third-ever title game of the new College Football Playoff format in 2017, one year after hosting the 50th Super Bowl. At least a few other cities are competing, and the NCAA will pick a winner in six weeks.
