More money, more responsibility for Earl Thomas
The Seattle Seahawks are making Earl Thomas earn every penny of his new contract that made him one of the highest-paid players at his position.
Last night, during the Seahawks' preseason game against the Bears, Thomas was the punt return man and even broke a 60-yard return that would've become a touchdown had he not been tackled by the punter.
With Golden Tate's departure, Thomas has become a viable option in the return game according to head coach Pete Carroll.
If we had to start today Earl Thomas would be the first guy back there, and hes really excited about that. Hes a guy that has the most (punt) catches for us. - Pete Carroll
To Thomas, it doesn't feel weird at all.
It felt like normal. It felt like anytime I get the ball I can make something happen. People are just so blind to the fact and stuck in their ways, but I love it because Ive got a chance to shut everybody up. - Earl Thomas via Seattle Times
