Brandon Guyer Makes Rays Opening Day Roster

The Tampa Bay Rays told outfielder Brandon Guyer that he had made the opening day roster and afterwards he told Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune,  “I’m really excited for the opportunity, I’ve been working my whole life to make an Opening Day roster and to be up here. Now the hard work starts. Now I have to keep grinding and do everything I can to help the team win.”

Infielders Jayson Nix and Wison Betemit and reliever Mark Lowe were told they were free to seek employment elsewhere but if they were unable to find a job Joe Maddon said they’d all be welcome to report to Durham. The only member of the trio for comment was Wilson Betemit who said that he would report to Durham if he were unable to find a major league deal elsewhere.

As of now the final two bullpen spots appear to be won by Josh Lueke and Brandon Gomes but Maddon said that “There’s something else in play.”

I am a fan of all sports but am most passionate about baseball. From the fanatical to analytical, nothing about the game escapes me. Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio I'm very familiar with the heartache and pain that sports can bring and hope that I bring some understanding of the other side to my coverage. I will focus mostly on baseball but also cover the Tampa Bay Lightning, one of the most electric franchises in all of sports. Always willing to converse about any sport and have only one rule and that is be respectful at all times.
