Sam Fuld To Be Non-Tendered By Rays
The Rays have until midnight this evening to tender a contract to their arbitration eligible players. The arbitration eligible Rays and their expected 2014 salary (provided by MLBTraderumors) are David Price ($13.1M), Matt Joyce ($3.7M), Jeremy Hellickson ($3.3M), Wesley Wright ($1.4M), Sean Rodriguez ($1.3M), Jake McGee ($1.2M), Jose Lobaton ($1M), Cesar Ramos ($700K), and Sam Fuld ($900K).
While Price, Joyce, Hellickson, McGee, Rodriguez, and Lobaton are all easy choices the others including Wright, Ramos, and Fuld are a little more difficult. According to Jerry Crasnick the Rays will not be tendering a contract to Fuld making him a free agent.

According to Roger Mooney of TBO.com (Twitter) Sam Fuld has said of not being tendered, “It’s disappointing, they (the Rays) are an amazing organization to be a part of.”
Their are a number of reasons the Rays are not tendering Fuld a contract. The odds of him making the team in 2014 are slim and he holds very little trade value so it may be in the best interest of both parties to part ways now rather than delay him the opportunity to sign on with another team.
The Rays have a roster crunch coming in spring training as Brandon Guyer is out of options and will need a spot on the 25-man roster or be exposed to waivers. Additionally, Sean Rodriguez proved adept in the outfield and will more than likely be the one to replace either DeJesus or Joyce late in games after a pinch hitter has been inserted into game.
The 32-year old left-handed hitting outfielder appeared in 119 games logging 200 plate appearances hitting .199/.267/.270. He added 8 stolen bases in 10 attempts and hit .273 (18 for 66) versus left handed pitching.
Update: Message From Sam Fuld
