On Saturday Desmond Jennings delivered a career tying high 4 RBI by belting a 3-run homer and a RBI triple. His bat seems to be coming around at just the right time for the Rays.
Entering Saturday’s game with the Baltimore Orioles Jennings had only hit .198 (20 for 101) but had drawn an impressive 20 walks in 123 plate appearances.
After yesterday’s game he is now posting a slash line of .212/.346/.375 with 21 walks in 127 plate appearances.
Joe Maddon likes to say that “when you’re walking you’re hitting” but that hasn’t been the case for Jennings. It has been frustrating for Jennings but he says “it’s about me squaring balls up – getting walks and running the bases is nice but hits are better.”
