ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Nelson Cruz is back in the Texas Rangers lineup Monday after completing his 50-game suspension, batting sixth and serving as the team’s designated hitter. It will be Cruz’s first game action since August 4th.
The Texas Rangers reinstated their slugger from the restricted list in time for tonight’s AL wild-card tiebreaker game against Tampa Bay a day after the end of his penalty that followed Major League Baseball’s investigation of the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic.
In a corresponding move, Texas designated outfielder Joey Butler for assignment to create room for Cruz on the team’s 40-man roster.
