Reds Cozart Back In Lineup After Finger Injury

CINCINNATI (AP) — Shortstop Zack Cozart was back in the Reds’ starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night, two days after he suffered a frightening finger injury while trying to bunt.

Cozart thought he’d broken his right index finger when it was hit by the pitch while he tried to bunt on Saturday. X-rays were negative and the finger made a quicker-than-expected recovery.

Manager Dusty Baker said right-hander Johnny Cueto also is making progress in recovering from a pulled muscle in his back. Cueto went on the 15-day disabled list a week earlier. Baker said there’s no timetable yet for him to start a regular throwing program.

Left-handed reliever Sean Marshall was set to start a rehab stint at Triple-A on Monday, working his way back from a sore pitching shoulder.
