Colon told A’s writers during the playoffs that he might be interested in playing three more years in total. However, the A’s apparently would like to keep Colon, who’s 40 now, on a one-year deal, if possible.
Colon re-emerged as an ace the past couple years and was 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA this past year. The A’s, famous as the Moneyball team, remain a small-revenue team and don’t like to chance having wasted years.
