New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira had to be taken out of yesterday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after straining his hamstring while chasing a foul ball.
According to Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York, he will undergo an MRI when the team returns to New York on Monday.
Head coach Joe Girardi confirmed that Teixeira will have to be placed on the disabled list, according to Dan Barbarisi of the Wall Street Journal. Austin Romine will replace him.
