Yankees Pursuing Derrek Lee For 1B

The Yankees have asked first baseman Derrek Lee if he would come out of retirement, and join the team as Mark Teixeira’s replacement, according to David Waldstein of the New York Times.

Lee is interested in the opportunity, but remains undecided, according to Waldstein. The 37-year-old Lee did not play in the majors last year. In 2011, he hit .267/.325/.446 in 447 plate appearances with the Orioles and the Pirates.
