Mother nature decided to dump on the Bronx and Yankee Stadium Wednesday night. It was coming down like a tropical storm.
Play was halted at 8:46 pm and it came down so hard the grounds crew at the stadium had some problems getting the field covered due to high winds. It took them 14 minutes to get it covered, allowing enough time to soak the infield dirt.
When the game was halted, the Yankees were up 2-1 in the home half of the fifth inning. It was announced at 9:05 pm that play was set to resume around 10:00 pm and the grounds crew pulled the tarp off the field at 10:24 pm. But the game was eventually called off and the Yankees beat the Texas Rangers in four and a half innings.
