NEW YORK (AP) — Mark Teixeira is back in the New York Yankees’ lineup against Seattle after missing two games with a sore left wrist.
The first baseman left Monday night’s loss to Baltimore and was examined the following day by doctors. An MRI showed no structural damage, and Teixeira was diagnosed with inflammation. He received a cortisone shot.
The switch-hitting slugger was penciled into the cleanup spot Friday night after testing his wrist during batting practice. He wore a wrap on his wrist, but appeared to be comfortable taking swings.
Teixeira was batting .256 with 20 homers and a team-high 71 RBIs.
