In the confines of the standings, the New York Yankees had a good night on Tuesday. They mounted a comeback win against the Baltimore Orioles, and Tampa Bay Rays, whom the Yankees are chasing for the second AL wild-card berth, fell to Boston. However, in the course of beating Baltimore, the Yankees, true to form in 2013, got banged up.
To wit, Alex Rodriguez, who exited the game after sliding into home in the eighth, suffered tightness in his left hamstring, but manager Joe Girardi says he may be able to DH on Wednesday. Approval ratings aside, A-Rod has been quite valuable to the Yankees since his return from hip surgery, as he’s batted .301/.388/.496 in 129 plate appearances this season.
