The Tampa Bay Rays are having a season to forget as they have the worst record in baseball at 24-39, have lost ten of their past eleven and seem destined for a sell-off of talent as the trade deadline approaches.
They’ve been very un-Rays like this season, sitting 21st this season with a 4.23 starter’s ERA, but they’ve also suffered from behind the plate as of late.
However, both areas will get help soon though as rehab assignments began yesterday for two of their key players.
Jeremy Hellickson is scheduled to make at least two more rehab starts before he will re-join the Rays rotation. The Rays want to make sure Jeremy Hellickson is stretched out before he joins the squad.
Ryan Hanigan hit the DL at the end of May with a hamstring injury. Though he can not come off the DL until Tuesday it’s expected that Ryan Hangian will be ready to go at that time.
