Sunday Notes: Twins’ Minor Leaguer Suspended 50 Games

NEW YORK — Minnesota Twins infielder Jonatan Hinojosa has been suspended for 50 games following a positive drug test for metabolites of Nandrolone under baseball’s minor league drug program.

The 21-year-old player is on the roster of Cedar Rapids of the Class A Midwest League, and hit .236 with 15 RBIs and 10 steals for the Gulf Coast League Twins last year and was 0 for 3 on Wednesday in his only game for Cedar Rapids.

Twenty-three players have been suspended this year under the minor league drug program, a program in which the penalty for an initial PEDs testing violation increased to 80 games for samples collected after April 1.
