Pittsburgh Rookie Steps Up In Game 2

NLDS Game 2Gerrit Cole was unflappable during the last seven regular-season starts on his rookie season, posting a quality start each time and compiling a 2.18 ERA in that stretch.

He was the same way in his postseason debut Friday. He pitched 6 innings, allowing only 1 run against the top offense in baseball.

Cole’s performance was a far sight better than that of Game 1 starter A.J. Burnett, who was rocked for seven runs in two-plus innings on Thursday when the Cardinals rolled to 9-1 victory.
