The dog days of summer are upon us and MLB teams are battling for the final wildcard spot.
The Washington Nationals (68-65) are 6.5 games back of the Cincinnati Reds (75-56) for the final wildcard spot. The Nationals have gone 8-2 over their last 10-games, do they have any chance at the final wildcard spot? The Reds are on pace for 93-wins, that would mean that the Nationals would need to go 26-3 over their last 29-games to reach 94-wins.
It would be a baseball miracle if the Nationals made the playoffs.
The Tampa Bay Rays are on pace for a 92-win season and a wildcard berth. The Baltimore Orioles would have to 22-8 to reach 93-wins and unseat the Rays.
Crazier things have happened in the MLB so the Rays just need to start stacking wins. They have a rough road trip ahead and need to remain focused and score some runs.
